I watched you
Your feet plucked the dance
Rhythms of the drums
Dancing the okara.
Your sweating humus skin glowed
Under the moon’s reflection
As bright light on Liquid gold.
Those breast, ripe as huge sweet
Brown pods of cocoa heaved with pride.
And your sensuous supple body rippled
With the freshness of the pumpkin
Your eyes shone as two pelts
Of vanished pearls
Your teeth glimmered like elephant tusk
Pieces of Ivory from Abidjan.
Princess of the creeks
Let’s steal away
From the market square
Hustling with dainty dance and drums
To my altar of love
There I shall pluck your white ostrich plums
The ritual to immortalize your beauty.

UNIVERSITY EDUCATION: EXPLORING ALTERNATIVES.
University Education in represents the only academic institution that offers and confers the highest level of educational degree or certificate. It is thus the intellectual repertoire of any society; hence it is most respected and celebrated. Over the years most university have had several challenges in living up to their expectations, constrained either by government policies (esp. In government owned institutions), these constraints have had a direct effect on the provision of essential infrastructure to enhance a simplified didactic process.
In Nigeria, University Education has met with a great number of challenges ranging from strings of strike actions, non existing infrastructure to corruption. Needless to say, these factors have militated against developments in science and technology, and other fields necessary to ensure the development of the nation.
Healthy Universities should provide a healthy flow of competition; it should have up-to-date research facilities, a very exhaustive library, several academic incentives as well as a good study condition /environment.
The Nigeria university scenario leaves many questions, in August 2009 the sole university regulatory body National University Commission (NUC), shut down forty five universities in the country for running course programme below standards. Unfortunately, the black-listed universities have issued degree certificate to students in the past years of their existence.
Also, an average of one million students across the country apply for the University Matriculation Examination (UME), less than half of this number make it into the university, sometime having scored exceptionally high scores or through the back door. The fact is, there aren’t enough qualified and competent universities to service the increasing demand for university education. Consequently, the university who themselves are underfunded; give out admission to the “highest bidder.” Now, since university education is very expensive, there is little hope for the wards of low and medium income earners to have a shot at the system without tears.
If this ugly trend is sustained, it would lead to a total collapse of university system; a loss of integrity for the nation’s academic institution.
Therefore, an alternative is necessary to salvage the Nigerian student the embarrassment of being called “half baked.” The alternative is STUDY ABROAD.
Though it is not surprising that many people think that studying abroad is a pie in the sky, this is because people do not have access to enough information on the matter. The fact is ANYBODY can study abroad.
Everyone deserves access to quality education in an enlightened and conducive environment. A chance to use these acquired competence to contribute to the development of this nation.

Poems
GREY
Surrounded by the roaring rage of silence
And then the abrupt lacerating drone
Of healthy filled toads, spitting their chill
Darting venom,
The grey skies gave way to the bulking weight
Of the May rains, drenching me;
The ritual to rid the Amazon demons of yester years
Whose sour victories are the memorabilia of my shredded heart.
Doused and cold, my wool blanket is my only succour.
